BDR Receives a Grant from the Government of Aragon to Drive the Digitalization of Its Regulatory Processes Through Artificial Intelligence
Blackhills Diagnostic Resources (BDR) has been awarded a €50,000 grant by the Aragonese Development Institute (IAF), part of the Government of Aragon, under the 2026 funding program supporting digitalization initiatives for small and medium-sized enterprises.
This funding will support the development of the project “Implementation of the AI-Based SCAL System for the Automation of IVDR Regulatory Processes”, which has a total budget of €100,000.
The aim of the project is to implement SCAL (Smart Certification Assistant for Laboratories), an artificial intelligence-based technology platform designed to automate and optimize the creation, management, and updating of regulatory technical documentation in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/746 (IVDR), applicable to in vitro diagnostic medical devices.
This solution will improve the efficiency of regulatory processes by automating scientific literature analysis, enabling assisted generation of technical documentation, and enhancing information traceability, helping to reduce the time required to prepare regulatory dossiers and facilitate product certification.
Through this initiative, BDR reaffirms its commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and continuous improvement, incorporating advanced artificial intelligence technologies to strengthen its competitiveness and continue driving the development of in vitro diagnostic solutions.
Project funded by the Aragonese Development Institute (Government of Aragon).
